Where Are Chainsaws Made? [Listed By Each Manufacturer]

No need to explain what a chainsaw is, but you made be wondering where do they come from.

I’ve put together a list of the most notable chainsaw brands. The most prominent brands have their own in-depth article, which you can find at the end of each brand’s section.

Some lesser-known brands don’t make their plant locations public, but I try to find the most likely scenario.

Where are Husqvarna chainsaws made?

Husqvarna is a Swedish company and is a market leader along with Stihl. They do a similar number in terms of revenue, but to be fair, Husqvarna has a wider product portfolio (sewing machines, bikes, etc.).

Even though the product label will usually say Sweden or USA, their production spans many countries across the globe, so chances are that different parts come from different facilities, and are assembled in one place.

Outside of Sweden and the US, more of their facilities are in France, Germany, China, and Brazil.

By the way, did you know that Husqvarna is over 330 years old?

For more in-depth article, go here.

Where are Stihl chainsaws made?

One of the (if not THE) most trusted and liked chainsaw brands. Manufactured in the United States of America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Brazil, and China.

The US subsidiary has headquarters, a manufacturing plant, and warehouses in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The German HQ is in Weiblingen near Stuttgart.

The Chinese factory is in Qingdao.

Stihl is coming close to its 100 year anniversary.

I go into more detail here.

Where are Echo chainsaws made?

Echo chainsaws offer fantastic product quality and range.

Their main manufacturing unit is in the United States of America, but it doesn’t entirely carry out the manufacturing process, which is spread out throughout the US, as well as outside the country.

The most significant factories outside of the US are in Yokosuka and Morioka in Japan, Shenzhen in China.

Where are Poulan chainsaws made?

Poulan was founded in 1912 in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1984 it was purchased by Electrolux and since 2006 it’s been a subsidiary of Husqvarna Group.

There is no mention of where they make their chainsaws, but I assume that they use the same facilities as Husqvarna does (Sweden, the US, France, Germany, China, and Brazil.)

Where are Jonsered chainsaws made?

Similar to Poulan, Jonsered was also part of Electrolux and later became a subsidiary of Husqvarna Group.

And they don’t mention where their manufacturing locations are, so I assume they’re made in the same plants as Poulan and Husqvarna (Sweden, the US, France, Germany, China, and Brazil.)

Where are Remington chainsaws made?

Remington is a subsidiary of MTD Products, which is headquartered in Valley City, Ohio in the US.

Component parts come from Zhejiang Pioneer Machinery & Electron Company of China and are then assembled in Mexico.

Where are Makita chainsaws made?

Makita is a giant of the power tools industry. And even though chainsaws are not the main focus in their portfolio, many handymen like them.

Since they’re a Japanese brand, their HQ is Anjō, Japan, but as you may have guessed by now, their manufacturing isn’t in one location or country. And this is the most spread-out brand we’ve talked about so far.

Their facilities can be found in Brazil, China, Mexico, Romania, the UK, Germany, Dubai, Rwanda, and the USA.

Where are Dolmar chainsaws made?

Dolmar is originally a German brand, but in 1991 they were acquired by Makita, but they still operate from their facility in Hamburg, Germany.

The internal parts come from around the world, including Japan, China, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, and Romania.

Where are McCulloch chainsaws made?

McCulloch is another Husqvarna subsidiary, and just like with others, we don’t have specific details about where they’re being made. I think it’s safe to assume they also use the same facilities in Sweden, the United States, France, Germany, China, and Brazil.

The company is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so they probably use more of the US plants than other Husky subsidiaries.

Where are Oregon chainsaws made?

A well-known brand among chainsaw enthusiasts. Oregon’s earned its reputation thanks to the high-quality in-home appliances and accessories.

They used to make their chainsaws right in Portland, Oregon, but later moved the manufacturing to the U.S. midwest and Canada.

Where are Black & Decker chainsaws made?

If you thought Husqvarna has a lot of subsidiaries, think again. Black & Decker has so many of them that I didn’t even bother to count. If you’re enough of a masochist yourself, feel free to have a look.

They have plants all over the world, but you bet they manufacture their low-end products in the likes of China. But who doesn’t these days?

Other locations are in Japan, the USA, Eastern, and Western Europe.

Where are WORX chainsaws made?

Positec Tool Corporation owns WORX, which solves for the home appliance market.

Their manufacturing is based in China.

Where are Tanaka chainsaws made?

A lesser-known brand from Japan is owned by Chinese Hitachi.

And if you guessed that means they’re manufactured in China, you’d be right.

Where are Homelite chainsaws made?

Homelite chainsaws are made in China.

Their products are pretty basic, but I guess it’s enough for a very casual user.

To be fair though, some of their electric chainsaws are worth looking into.

So if you’re on a budget, they might be the right thing for you.

Where are Craftsman chainsaws made?

Craftsman has changed ownership multiple times, which might make you confused regarding their manufacturing locations.

At the time of writing, Husqvarna Group owns Craftsman, which means they’re manufactured in their manufacturing plants like all the others mentioned before. This may be an explanation as to why some of the Craftsman and Poulan chainsaws are almost identical.

And being part of the Husqvarna Group allows them to benefit from their research and development department and offer its users a good price/performance ratio.

Where are Ryobi chainsaws made?

Another Japanese brand may not sound familiar to you as it’s not as popular as other brands on this list. But they do make great entry-level tools for home users with great price points.

In the brand’s inception, the production was mostly in the U.S. (in the 80s and early 90s), but nowadays their parts come from China.

That being said, they still have one manufacturing in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Where are Parker chainsaws made?

Considering the age of most of the brands on this list, Parker is a newcomer to the industry.

Despite being founded in 2002, they are a worthy competitor to more established brands.

Another noteworthy fact is that they use just one location, which is still in the same spot since the brand’s beginning – Lincolnshire, UK.

Conclusion

That’s it. I hope you found what you were looking for. If you didn’t let me know which brand I missed in the comments and I’ll try to include it in the post.
