The 435 is one of the most popular chainsaws from Husqvarna. It belongs to Husky’s all-around, medium-duty range. Those are versatile and easy to maneuver, deliver easy startups, and plenty of performance in various cutting applications. Husqvarna 435 is a powerful 16” (40 cm) gas-powered saw that’s packed with their patented technology. It strikes a nice balance between usability and performance. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this one.
Pros & Cons
- Great value-for-dollar
- Lightweight and small
- Keeps on cutting
- Can be tricky to start
Conclusion
It’s clear to see why this saw is so popular. No, it’s not for cutting massive logs like some people expect it to be. Husqvarna 435 offers enough power for light and medium use, especially considering how light and small it is. So if you stick to what it was designed to do, you’ll get yourself a great work companion.
Design
The 435 is the most compact saw in Husky’s all-round range of products, with 15.2 x 8.1 x 11.1” (L x W x H). And because of its size, it’s also very light, with 9.7 lbs (4.39 kg) without cutting equipment. That makes it the second lightest Husqvarna next to 439.
The fuel tank has a capacity of 78 US pint (0.37 liter), which is standard in this range. More expensive saws have bigger tanks, but they also have much more powerful engines. The fuel consumption is 652 g/kWh, which is the highest in this range, but making it more economical would increase the price tag. And if you’re considering this saw, you’re probably not a power user, so it won’t make that much of a difference anyway.
Ease of use
The keyless flip-up tank cap is easy to open and close. It’s also transparent, so you can see how much fuel you have left.
Whenever you need to clean or change the air filter, you can easily do so thanks to their quick-release air filter feature. All you need to do is unclip the snap-lock cover on both sides and it comes off. You can use the scrench that comes with the saw.
When felling trees, the felling marks can be useful for guiding you how to align the saw.
Finally, it’s easy to start thanks to start/stop switch and Smart Start, which allows you to turn on the machine with minimum effort.
Safety
Standard safety feature in any Husqvarna saw is the inertia activated chain brake that significantly reduces risk of injury during kickback.
There’s also Husky’s LowVib vibration dampening system, which reduces the toll on your hands. And it makes a big difference when using it over long periods of time.
In the box is included a 16” (40 cm) low kickback guide bar for extra safety. You can change the bar and use one from 13” (33 cm) up to 18” (45 cm).
Performance
The 40.9 cc motor has power output of 2.2 horsepower, which is more than enough to cut through wood. As usual with Husqvarna saws, they use the X-Torq engine that increases fuel efficiency and lowers exhaust emissions. So, a win-win for you and your wallet.
Husqvarna’s centrifugal air cleaning system removes larger dust and debris particles before reaching the air filter, thus reducing air filter cleaning and improving engine lifespan.

Why does nobody ever bother including the fuel mix ratio with the specs? It seems to be like the specs should be a good place to find that information, and it’s about the only thing that isn’t listed.
Hi, all Husqvarna chainsaws use a fuel:oil ratio of 50:1. (2-stroke)
